Sunstar has a team of 12 ambassadors who travel the country and represent us at professional meetings and dental schools.
Alison Lowe
Hygienist
Alison Lowe is the winner of the 2008 Dental Hygienist of the Year which was awarded at the Probe Dental Awards on Friday 25 April.
Alison is based in the Department of Orthodontics at Cardiff Dental Hospital, and has completed post graduate courses on Extended Duties, Implants, Orthodontics, Periodontology, Radiography & Smoking Cessation. She has had scientific papers published in Dental Journals as well as reviewing titles for Quintessence publishing. She is also dental health correspondent of Health Wales and The Western Mail.
Alistair Hall
Dentalshop
After careers in chemical distribution and marketing Alistair and Debbie Hall founded Dentalshop in 2002. Providing displays, retail services via dental practice software and wholesale dental products quickly grew to include online shops for dental patients and the public and www.dentalshop.co.uk is now one of the leading online Dental Product Stores in the UK. The Dentalshop network promotes Sunstar GUM as lead products and is the main distributor to the Dental Sector.
Adele Kendler
Hygienist
Adele Kendler qualified as a dental hygienist from Guys Dental School, London in 1980. She also has a Diploma in Dental Health Education, and in 2000 took time out from dentistry to gain the DMS (Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies).
Baldeesh Chana
Hygienist
Bal qualified in 1992 at The London Hospital, where she is now Deputy Principal Hygiene/Therapy Tutor. She also works part time in a general dental practice. Bal is currently Chair of The British Association of Dental Therapists, she represents BADT on a number of boards including The Royal College of Surgeons DCP Advisory Board and The DCP key skills Working Group. She is also a DCP visitor for the General Dental Council inspecting DCP courses. Bal won Dental Therapist of the Year award in 2006.
Cheryl McBroom
Hygienist
Cheryl has been a Hygienist for the last 23 years, working all over the UK and in Germany. She has worked with a dental charity Bridge2Aid in Tanzania, doing clinical work and training local people in dentistry. Cheryl is married with two teenage children, ran the Great North Run for Dentaid and recently ran her first marathon in Dublin. She is training for the Moonlight Walk for breast cancer research and enjoys travelling and keeping fit.
Elizabeth Downton
Hygienist
Elizabeth qualified from Guy's in 1984. Since qualifying she has worked in both NHS and Private Practices in the West Midlands, and undertaken several extended duties courses. Currently she works in a predominantly independent Practice where she has worked for 13 years and built up a loyal patient base.
Emma Smith
Hygienist
Emma qualified as Dental Hygienist At Birmingham in 1992. She has worked as a Hygienist in preventive practice for many years, always believing if you treat the mouth you are treating the whole person as well. Emma has a keen interest in new ways of treating and helping patients achieve their oral hygiene goals, she feels Sunstar meets these goals effectively.
Fran Du Corbier
Dentist
Fran qualified from Sheffield University and has spent 20 years in dentistry. Fran continued her education pathway with a BSC at Sussex University followed by a research doctorate in cancer research. She recently joined Dental Health Spa in Brighton to become involved in an innovative approach to managing preventitive care.
Hayley Laurence
Hygienist
Hayley has a background in Dental Therapy working in the Caribbean for a number of years. She qualified as a Hygienist from Kings College London in 2004 and has since worked in private and specialist practice while expanding her role to Research Dental Hygienist at ULC Eastman Dental Institute.
Sarah Murray
Hygienist
Sarah is dually qualified as a Hygienist and a Therapist and comes from a clinical and educational background. She also graduated with a Masters degree in Primary Health & Community Care from the University of Westminster in 1997. She currently works at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry as Principal Tutor in addition to general practice. She was awarded the prestigious prize of Dental Hygienist of the Year at the 2007 Probe Awards for her contributions to dentistry.
